It’s hard to beat a classic, but everyone appreciates a good remix… That was my thought process when I set out to modify Fujifilm’s Classic Chrome profile on my Fujifilm X-H2. Like most people, I enjoy the original Classic Chrome, but variety is the spice of life. As 2024 drew to a close, I set out to make a film simulation that would give me new enthusiasm for photographing with this old favorite.

I just bought a Fujifilm X-H2 and I’ve been trying to create a film simulation that I can use as a “standard” profile. It needs to look good in all lighting conditions and be relatively flexible. Today’s recipe is my first attempt at such a recipe. Pro Negative 400 will give you unique colors suitable for every day memory making and reduce your need to edit in post.

The Fujifilm recipe I’ve created for you today is called Classic Gold Negative. It’s built on the Classic Negative film simulation. The recipe is free. I made it with the Fujifilm X-H2 and Sigma X-Mount lenses.

This is a new film simulation for Fujifilm cameras, specially for X-Trans III cameras. It's called the Rainy Grain Recipe. This recipe uses Fujifilm’s Classic Chrome Film Simulation and adds lots of contrast and a custom white balance to give it a well balanced and pleasing look, especially in natural light.
