Cotton Color 400 - Film Recipe for Ricoh GR III and GR IIIx
This week I tried something new. I’ve spent the last several weeks testing Ricoh GR III film simulations made by other people, especially those featured in the Ricoh Recipes App (free to download in app store). I’ve written about my experience on this blog (article #1, article #2, article #3), and using that experience, I thought it was time to try my hand at creating a unique recipe.
The result of my labors is a recipe I’m calling Cotton Color 400. The intent of this simulation is to give the photographer a “default” film recipe that can be used in a wide variety of lighting conditions.
Cotton Color 400 features slightly muted colors, low-to-mid contrast, and bright highlights. Kodak’s Portra 400 provided some inspiration for the color palette.
If you don’t know how to input a film recipe into your Ricoh GR III, I wrote and article and created a video explaining the process.
You can find the recipe below. If you don’t know how to input a film recipe into your Ricoh GR III, I wrote and article and created a video explaining the process.
I’ve made the film recipe free as a way to give back to the Ricoh community. I hope you enjoy it. If you try the recipe and upload to Instagram, tag your photos #RicohFilmRecipes… I would love to see your work!
Enjoy!
