Summer Bleach Film - Film Simulation for Ricoh GR III and GR IIIx

I know the bleach bypass film simulation is a favorite of a lot of Ricoh GR III and Fujifilm photographers, but I’ve never fallen in love with it. That said, last week, I attempted to make a film recipe using Ricoh’s pre-installed picture profile. I added a lot of saturation and a fair bit of contrast and I’m happy with the results. I’m going to call this recipe Summer Bleach Film.

I’m not sure I would use this as an everyday film simulation on my Ricoh, but I found it to be a great recipe to use to inspire new creativity in a location I had already photographed. The colors are muted but very pleasing, and I especially liked the way the night photos turned out (see the last few sample images). I definitely want to do some more low-light shooting with this simulation, but the opportunities for nightlife will be limited until after Ramadan (everything is closed).

The sample photos were taken in La Marsa, Tunisia.

You can find the recipe below. If you don’t know how to input a film recipe into your Ricoh GR III, I wrote and article and created a video explaining the process.

I’ve made the film recipe free as a way to give back to the Ricoh community. I hope you enjoy it. If you try the recipe and upload to Instagram, tag your photos #RicohFilmRecipes… I would love to see your work!

Enjoy!
