Kodak Magenta Chrome - Film Simulation for Ricoh GR III and GR IIIx
I’m back this week with another Ricoh GR III (and GR IIIx) film simulations. In my never ending pursuit to create a Kodak Portra 400 recipe, I was doing some experimenting, and came up with what I’m calling Kodak Magenta Chrome. Admittedly, the recipe isn’t that close to Porta, but that is ok.
We’ve had a lot of clouds and rain lately, so most of the sample images were taken under overcast conditions. I’m interested to test this recipe more when the sun comes out. I suspect this simulations will perform nicely with autumn colors, but unfortunately, here in Tunisia, we don’t have a lot of seasonal color changes.
Just for fun, I used the 1:1 aspect ratio for all of my GR III sample images. You can apply the crop directly in the camera. All of the sample images are SOOC (straight-out-of-camera) JPEG images and the colors were not altered in any way.
You can find the recipe instructions below. If you don’t know how to input a film recipe into your Ricoh GR III, I wrote and article and created a video explaining the process.
I’ve made the film recipe free as a way to give back to the Ricoh community. I hope you enjoy it. If you try the recipe and upload to Instagram, tag your photos #RicohFilmRecipes… I would love to see your work!
Enjoy!
